Panic gripped Musa village in Mansa district on Tuesday when a villager fell sick and several others complained of uneasiness after consuming parsad, which they had received in packets through post. The police have seized 15 packets delivered at different postal addresses in the village and initiated a probe into the matter.

According to information, a post office employee on Tuesday morning distributed parsad packets among villagers whose names were written on them. But, the name of the sender was not mentioned on the packets.

The post office employee, Gurdev Singh, said, “I delivered the packets at two-three houses. Later, I informed the sarpanch about it. Thereafter, the police were called.”

Mansa SSP Dr Narinder Bhargava said “In Musa village, many villagers had received packets, which are believed to be of parsad, through a post. A villager had fallen ill after consuming it. We have registered a case in this regard.”
