Pugilists deliver power-packed show

BATHINDA: As many as 400 boxing players from all across the state participated in the Inter-District School Games on Thursday. Boxing matches were played at two venues —Multipurpose Stadium and Royal Island Boxing Club near Goniana Road.

As many as 400 boxing players from all across the state participated in the Inter-District School Games on Thursday. Boxing matches were played at two venues —Multipurpose Stadium and Royal Island Boxing Club near Goniana Road.

Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh, who himself has been an international boxing player, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.

In the 42-44 kg weight category, Khushdeep Kaur from Mastuana defeated Jasma from Hoshiarpur.

In the 48-50 kg weight category, Ankita from Pathankot defeated Himashi from Fatehgarh Sahib. In the same category, Nikita of Hoshiarpur defeated Kirandeep Kaur of Faridkot. In the 42 kg weight category, Vineet from Fatehgarh defeated Bhavna from Pathankot.

Kamaljit Kaur from Mastuana defeated Harneet from Gurdaspur in the 42 kg weight category. In the same weight category, Nvaneet from Snagrur defeated Harleen Kaur from Ghudda. In 42 kg weight category, Aarti from Muktsar defeated Amritpal Kaur, who was also from the same city. In another match, Ramandeep Kaur from Patiala defeated Jaspreet Kaur from Bathinda.

In the 42-44 kg category, Livasi from Fatehgarh defeated Amandeep Kaur from SBS Nagar. Jamuna from Mohali defeated Binderpal Kaur from Mansa in another match.

Amandeep Kaur from Bathinda defeated Suvidha from Pathankot in the same weight category. Priyanka from Moga defeated Vanreet Kaur from Barnala in the 44-46 kg weight category.
