Punjab woman allegedly murders children with rat poison, father's complaint leads to arrests
Woman, paramour, sister accused of killing two children in Bathinda village; two detained
A woman, along with her sister and alleged paramour, has been accused of killing her eight-year-old daughter and six-year-old son over the past fortnight by administering rat poison at Phulewala village in the Rampura Phul subdivision of Bathinda district.
Acting on the complaint of the deceased children’s father, the police have registered a case and detained his wife and her sister.
Suspicion arose when the boy died on Friday night.
Jasmeet Singh, SP (D), Bathinda, said that the girl had earlier died under suspicious circumstances. “Later, the boy also died under similar circumstances. During the probe, it came to light that the woman, who was allegedly in an illicit relationship with a resident of neighbouring Mehraj village, administered rat poison to both her children, leading to their deaths,” he said.
Meanwhile, Manoj Kumar, DSP, Rampura Phul, said, “Budh Singh, a resident of Phulewala village, lodged a complaint today alleging that his daughter Sukhpreet Kaur had died under mysterious circumstances and that his son Fatehveer died yesterday under similar circumstances. He has lodged a complaint against his wife Jassi Kaur. She has confessed her crime. Her sister, Moto Kaur, and one Lakhi Singh have been booked. We have detained Jassi Kaur and Moto Kaur.”
He added that the girl was cremated without a post-mortem examination, but the post-mortem of the boy would now be conducted as part of the investigation.
