Dancing star, Mr and Miss Vibgyor and songs by popular Punjabi singer Kamal Heer were the major events on the first day of VIBGYOR-19 festival at Baba Farid Group of Institutions (BFGI) here on Saturday.
Rajiva Ranjan, Air Commodore, Air Force Station, Bhisiana, was the chief guest on the first day of the event.
Gursharan Kaur bagged the Miss Vibgyor title and Gurpreet Singh the Mr Vibgyor title. The winners were awarded Rs 31,000 each.
Besides, the Vibgyor Idol title was given to Kunal Kumar and the Vibgyor Dancing Star title was bagged by Saksham Sharma. The winners were awarded Rs 21,000 each.
Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Global Ambassador, World Cancer Care Charitable Trust, was honoured with the prestigious BFGI Award for Excellence in Social Service by BFGI chairman Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal.
Delegates and cultural teams from more than 15 countries, such as Egypt, Brazil, Russia, Zimbabwe, Ukraine and Afganistan, also attended the fest.
Dance and cultural performances by international artistes/students were applauded by all.
Moreover, under ‘Spectra’, students presented science-based projects, which were made out of Waste. Competitions like food without fire, poster- making, rangoli, turban yying, nail art, science mania and treasure hunt were organised. Daring stunts by motorcyclists enthralled everyone.
Famous Punjabi singer Kamal Heer enthralled youngsters by his popular songs. Punjabi female singer Nimrat Khaira and Harf Cheema also gave mesmerizing performances.
