Roadways, private bus officials exchange blows in Rampura

BATHINDA: Officials of Punjab Roadways, Ludhiana, and a private bus company exchanged blows on the Bathinda-Chandigarh national highway near Rampura on Tuesday.

Officials of Punjab Roadways, Ludhiana, and a private bus company exchanged blows on the Bathinda-Chandigarh national highway near Rampura on Tuesday.

In the scuffle, Punjab Roadways conductor Ravinder Singh was injured and is undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital in Rampura.

According to information, when two buses reached a T-point on the outskirts of Rampura, drivers and conductors of both buses exchanged heated argument over the timings, which turned into a scuffle.

Ravinder said he was attacked with sticks. After the incident, roadways employees blocked the road in protest. The police had to face a tough time to manage traffic.

Ram Singh from the PRTC union said before this incident in Rampura, private company officials had also a scuffle in Tapa Mandi with Roadways officials over the timings.

Rampura city Station House Officer Gurpreet Kaur with a police team reached the spot and assured the protesters of action against the accused. Thereafter, the protest was lifted.

The SHO said they were probing the matter and officials of both sides were admitted to hospital.
