Students of Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour here on Wednesday. The message of water conservation was spread through different events such as choreography, Punjabi poem, Hindi speech, etc.

A pledge was taken by the students to consume water judiciously so as to save every drop of water. To commemorate the sacrifices made by freedom fighters, a patriotic group song was sung by the students. A patriotic dance was performed by students.

The pre-primary wing was decorated with Tricolour balloons, flags and kites. Students of Classes nursery, first and second enjoyed colouring, drawing and making of the national flag. LKG students coloured the national flower and students of UKG made badges of tricolour kites. Students of Class I spoke a few lines on Independence Day. Besides, a patriotic song was sung by students of nursery class and a group song was sung by students of Classes I and II.

Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill appreciated the students for their performance in various events. Indeed, it was a day of joy, love, to respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live in.

The Delhi Public School junior wing celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great fervour. School Principal Arun jee and Bandana jee presided over the event as the chief guests.

Tiny tots of Nursery and Prep showcased their love for the country by a small choreography, slogans, speeches and a group song. Unity in diversity in the country was highlighted through a fancy dress show. The principal appreciated the efforts of the little ones and school in-charge Jaspreet Kaur laid emphasis on such celebrations to inculcate values and love for country in small children.

St. Xavier’s School, Bathinda, celebrated Independence Day and the felicitation programme on Wednesday. The principal, Rev Father Cidly Furtardo, anager Rev Father Christopher Michael, the local superior Rev Father Sonny and Rev Father Arvind were all present. The event included patriotic dances, group songs and a skit to celebrate this grand occasion.

Toppers of Classes X and XII for the session 2018-2019 were also invited and they were all felicitated with mementoes and certificates for their outstanding results in the board exams. They were praised for their exclusive hard work by the principal of the school in his speech. Finally, the programme came to an end with the national anthem.
