Schools celebrate I-Day with zeal

BATHINDA: City schools celebrated the Independence Day with full fervour on Thursday. The Little Kingdom Nursery School celebrated the day on the school campus . The function started with a prayer song.

City schools celebrated the Independence Day with full fervour on Thursday. The Little Kingdom Nursery School celebrated the day on the school campus . The function started with a prayer song. Tiny tots came dressed as freedom fighters with each of them holding the Tricolour in their hand. They also took out a march for a ceremonial parade, with the principal taking the salute.

The march was followed by teachers singing patriotic songs such as ‘Rang de Basanti’ and ‘hum Hindustani’. Children chanted slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’. A two-minutes silence was observed in memory of soldiers who gave their life for the freedom of the country. Softboards were decorated with national symbols.

A colouring competition was held, in which students coloured the national flag. The best coloured flag was displayed on school’s notice board. The importance of the national flag and the respect it should have in every Indian’s heart was explained to the young ones. Every child was given a small national flag at the end of the event.

Principal of the school Shuchita Grover apprised students of the importance of the Independence Day and the struggle for freedom from the British. She said it was India’s hope and faith that had brought the country to its present position, after a long battle of over two centuries.

She also lauded the role of thousands of martyrs who put country before self and shed their blood for the motherland.

Delhi Public School

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Delhi Public School (DPS), Bathinda. The day began with a flag-hoisting ceremony by the chief guest, Vandana Jee, and the guest of honour, Dr Arun Jee, who is also the principal of the school.

Students displayed their enthusiasm with march past and various cultural items. Song ‘Aye watan watan mere abad rahe tu’ soaked all with patriotic emotion. Students of Shiksha Kendra, a school run by DPS for underprivileged children, also performed dance and song on the occasion. The day ended with the distribution of sweets to children and staff members.

Radiant Kids Playway

Radiant Kids Playway School celebrated the Independence Day with great zeal and remembered with the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The school was decorated with flags, flowers and pictures of freedom fighters. Children raised slogans such as “Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Hind’, followed by cultural items evoking feelings of patriotism among all school children and staff members.

School principal apprised students of the significance of day. She said to serve the country, they should first become good human beings and do simple acts such as keeping their surroundings clean, obeying and respecting their elders and helping the needy.

Blooming Buds Playway

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour at the Blooming Buds Playway School on its campus at Birla Mill Colony.

School principal Reena Gupta unfurled the national flag and addressed students. She spoke about the importance of the day and how they could pay tribute to the sacrifices of the great heroes.

She further said it was time to join hands, to cooperate, innovate and advance. The very essence of plurality lied in cherishing our heterogenity and in valuing our diversity, she said.

A cultural performance consisting of song, dance and choreography, depicting the vibrant colours of patriotism.
