Amid growing anxiety among residents over the conflict in several parts of the Middle East, a family from Sardulgarh in Mansa district, whose newly married son and daughter-in-law are currently in Dubai for their honeymoon, has appealed to people not to panic.

Citing conversations with the couple, the family said that while flight operations remain suspended, day-to-day activities in parts of Dubai are continuing without major disruption.

Speaking to The Tribune, Gurjant Singh, who runs a tailoring shop in Sardulgarh, said, “My son and daughter-in-law are permanent residents of Canada. They got married here on February 22 and left for Dubai on February 27 for their honeymoon. They have return tickets for tomorrow. I have spoken to them several times over the past three days. They are now moving around without any problem, and have also visited Burj Khalifa today.”

He added that the family was closely monitoring updates regarding airport operations. “If the Dubai airport resumes operations tomorrow, they will return as scheduled,” he said.

Appealing against panic, Gurjant Singh said, “Some people are unnecessarily creating panic. From what my children are telling me, the situation there is returning to normal. The situation may be more serious in some other countries.”

Echoing similar views, Advocate Varun Juneja, a resident of Fazilka, who returned from Dubai on Wednesday after spending nearly two weeks there, said, “My brother-in-law is a senior executive in a multinational hotel group in Dubai. I spoke to him today and he informed me that offices are open and routine activities have resumed in most parts.”
