Faridkot, March 18
A 24-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding car in the campus of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot on Monday. At the time of the incident, Biswas Kumar, the deceased, a resident of Jassewana village of Muktsar, was in the hospital with his wife for the treatment of his new-born son.
As per the eyewitnesses, Biswas Kumar was sitting on a bench in the compound of the medical college and was on talking to somebody on phone when all of sudden a speeding car hit him, crushed him under the wheels, inflicting serious multiple injuries.
Biswas Kumar was immediately taken to the emergency wing of the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Gurmej Singh, police investigation officer, said a criminal case under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (negligent driving) has been registered against the unidentified driver as the police are yet to identify the accused. The car has also been taken into custody, he said.
Priyanka, wife of the deceased said it was less than a year when she was married to Biswas Kumar. Both husband and wife were in the hospital for the treatment of their new-born baby.
