SSA-RMSA teachers to meet Rahul Gandhi over demands

BARNALA: Having failed to get any positive response for their demands from the Punjab Government, SSA and RMSA teacher have decided to meet Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and will leave for New Delhi on Saturday.

Having failed to get any positive response for their demands from the Punjab Government, SSA and RMSA teacher have decided to meet Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and will leave for New Delhi on Saturday.

During a meeting at Barnala, the teachers said for the past many years, they had been working on meagre salary.

They also alleged that Punjab Congress leaders had been backtracking from their promises of meeting them.

“We have not received our salaries for the past four months. We are borrowing money from our relatives to meet our expenses,” said Nirmal Singh, a teacher, after a meeting at the Barnala DC office complex.

The teachers said before elections, all Congress leaders made promises to reguaralise their services, but after the formation of the government, they were unwilling to meet to the teachers.

They said though the Punjab Government had been talking about financial crisis in the state, at the same time all ministers and MLAs were enjoying all facilities.

They announced to intensify their agitation if the Congress Government failed to fulfil their demands and release their salaries at the earliest. — TNS
