SSD College holds 2nd annual athletics championship

BATHINDA: The four-day 2nd annual athletics meet organised at SSD College of Professional Studies, Bhokhra, concluded here on Friday.

The four-day 2nd annual athletics meet organised at SSD College of Professional Studies, Bhokhra, concluded here on Friday.

On the third Day, the winners of badminton were Sandeep Sran (singles), Dilveer and Sandeep Sran (doubles), Kiranjot (singles), Ruchika and Kiranjot (doubles). In chess, Naveen was the winner.

On the final day today, various track and field events took place. The meet started with the flag-hoisting ceremony by Principal Dr Rajesh Singla.

Further, torch lighting was followed by the march past, oath-taking ceremony and the salute given by students to Principal Dr Rajesh Singla.

In the 100, 200, 400 and 400 (relay) metres, the winners were Naresh, Naresh, Sandeep and Yellow House, respectively, in the boys category whereas in the girls category the winners were Kuldeep, Kuldeep and Deepu respectively.

In long jump, Sandeep and Kamaldeep Kaur won the first position. In shot put, Sourav and Deepu won the first position. In a three-legged race, Yellow House came first in the boys’ category and Blue House in the girls’ category. In tug-of-war, Yellow House was first in the boys’ category.

Sandeep Sran of BSc (Agriculture 4th Year) of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar House won the best athlete award among boys and Dildeep Kaur of BA (3rd year) of Shaheed Udham Singh House won the best athlete award among girls.

The overall trophy of the best house was won by Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar House.

The chief guest, CA Parmod Mittal, and other dignitaries of SSD Sabha, staff and students enjoyed the event.

Parmod Mittal in his speech talked about the importance of sports. He motivated the students to make sports a part of life and everyone must take up one game in their life.
