Bathinda, September 18
The teaching fraternity under the banner of the Democratic Teachers’ Front staged a protest in Bathinda today, demanding cancellation of termination orders to teachers who had unearthed irregularities in Adarsh schools of the region.
The protesters also expressed concern over the new education policy and burnt an effigy of the state Education Department to express their resentment.
Jaswinder Singh, state secretary of the union, said, “We demand that the decision to terminate the services of teachers, who brought forth the irregularities in Adarsh schools running in PPP mode in the region, must be cancelled.
The notices being issued to teachers for not participating in training, on a call given by unions, must be cancelled, he said.
“The jobs of scores of teachers, who have been rendering their services for many years, have not been regularised till now. Even promotions of the teachers are getting stopped due to the apathy of the department,” he added.
