Making videos while casting their votes and putting them on the social media cost two residents of Muktsar district dear.

Notably, as per the orders of the District Magistrate, mobile phones or cameras were not allowed inside the polling booth on Sunday.

Satnam Singh Mann, a Congress worker, on Sunday made a video while casting his vote at Government Primary School at Chakk Gilzewala village. He further put it on his social media account, which went viral.

The Kotbhai police have registered a case under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a relevant section of the Indian Representation Act against him.

The accused, however, is yet to be arrested.

Similarly, Karamjit Singh of Ravidas Nagar in Malout town made a video of polling his vote at Government high School there.

A policeman even stopped him, but he allegedly misbehaved with him. The Malout (City) police arrested him. Later, he was released on bail.

Notably, after these two cases, some people deleted their videos from the social media to avoid police action.
