Two booked for Rs 13.80 lakh fraud

BATHINDA: A company has allegedly duped an Air Force jawan of Rs 13.80 lakh by promising him to pay 18 per cent interest on the sum deposited by him.

A company has allegedly duped an Air Force jawan of Rs 13.80 lakh by promising him to pay 18 per cent interest on the sum deposited by him.

The company claimed of selling health and agriculture products at low rates. The Kotwali police have registered a case against two persons and have started searching for the accused.

ASI Rajpal Singh said the accused have identified as Gaurav Yadav, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar in Goniana, and Gurbaksh Singh, a resident of Nathpura village.

The police have registered a case against them on the complaint of Harvinderjit Singh, a resident of Sivian village.

In the statement given to the police, the victim has stated that he worked in the Indian Air Force and presently, he was posted at Jodhpur in Rajasthan.

The accused run company called Capacious Farming Company Private Limited in the Ahluwalia complex near the bus stand and both are directors. In December 2014, both came to his house and offered him to become a member of their company.

The accused told him that if he would invest in their company, they would give him 18 per cent interest.

He invested Rs 13.80 lakh but the accused later refused to return even the principal amount, let alone the interest, he added.

Investigating officer Rajpal Singh said a case had been registered after a probe by the EO wing. However, no arrest has been made so far. — TNS
