Two feared drowned in Sirhind Canal

MACHHIWARA: Two persons were feared drowned in the Sirhind Canal near Powat Bridge.

Machhiwara, June 13

Two persons were feared drowned in the Sirhind Canal near Powat Bridge.

The victims have been identified as Kuldip Singh (45) and Gurdip Singh (35), both residents of Kotala Dhaha village near here.

Kuldip and Gurdip worked in a private factory at Kohara. Around 1.30 pm, they together left for Machhiwara. Later, the motor cycle which they were riding and their clothes were found near Powat Bridge.

Although it was suspected that they could be swept away by the strong current while bathing in the canal, ASI Darshan Lal, in charge of Behlolpur Chwoki, said the police were investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the police found a car, registered in the name of Amandeep Singh, abandoned near the banks of the canal.
