Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm.

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters, MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar unfurled the National Flag. Addressing the gathering, Dr Ishar appealed to all to adopt virtues of humanity, brotherhood and national integrity.

Dr Ishar highlighted the ‘Buddy Programme’ to get rid of drug addiction among the youth. MRSPTU Registrar Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal, campus director Dr Gursharan Singh, faculty and a large number of students attended the function.

Similarly, Independence Day was also celebrated at Guru Kashi University. Vice Chancellor Dr JS Dhillon was the chief guest on the occasion.

He unfurled the Tricolour. He also inspected a parade by the security cadets and students. He spoke about the significance of the historic day and urged the students to become model citizens.

Deputy Registrar Dr Amit Tuteja welcomed the gathering. Various cultural programmes were conducted with the aim of developing leadership qualities among youth. The function concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem. — TNS
