Waterlogging: Manpreet releases Rs 32.9-lakh grant

BATHINDA: Finance Minister Manpreet Badal has released a grant of Rs32.9 lakh to resolve the problem of waterlogging in the city.

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal has released a grant of Rs32.9 lakh to resolve the problem of waterlogging in the city.

In a letter to the DC, MC Commissioner and XEN of the PWD (B&R)’s construction wing, Manpreet said city residents had brought to his notice that they faced a tough time due to waterlogging after heavy rainfall a few days ago.

Manpreet said, “To resolve the issue, I want that the pending sewerage works should be completed in the city. Besides, within a week, tenders should also be released.”

He released a grant of Rs10 lakh to the MC Commissioner for the construction of deep borewells at Veer Colony near the Amrik Singh road and the Power house road. Apart from this, he also has given a grant of Rs10 lakh to lay interlocking tiles in outer areas of various colonies to stop the flow of rainwater.

The XEN of the PWD has issued Rs2.70 lakh to provide pump sets at disposal points in Veer colony. Besides, he has also Rs2.20 lakh for a pump set at the disposal site in Sanguana Basti. For constructing a dharamshala in Sanguana Basti, a grant of Rs8 lakh has also been issued.— TNS
