Will focus on rooting out drug menace: Mansa DC

Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Friday said the district administration was focusing on measures to eradicate consumption of opium, poppy husk and medicinal drugs, which are the root cause of various problems plaguing society.

The DC said the mission’s motive was not only to improve people’s health but also to provide a pollution-free environment.

Talking about her priorities, she said, “We will work out modalities to bring a solution to the problems of sewerage and water-logging during the rainy season, besides addressing others issues pertaining to traffic.” Replying to media queries about water-logging problem, she said a detailed drainage plan is being prepared by the district administration in this regard which will be sent to the higher authorities in Chandigarh.
