Woman ends life, three booked

BATHINDA: A woman working at a private hotel committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance.



Bathinda, March 23

A woman working at a private hotel committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. According to information, she took the extreme as she was allegedly being blackmailed by her three colleagues.

Deceased’s father Nikka Singh stated to the police that her daughter Sarbjit Kaur (28), was married to Joginder Singh of Adarsh Nagar and they had a seven-year-old daughter. He said her husband was a truck driver, who used to stay out of the city.

“Suman, a resident of Bathinda, Roshan Singh of Nihal Singh Wala and Murad Khan of Jassi Paowali were colleagues of my daughter. Suman had illicit relations with Roshan. Murad and my daughter came to know about it. Thereafter, they started forcing my daughter to join into some wrong work. My daughter had rejected it. After that, they started threatening her and put her photos on social media. They were blackmailing her. Irked over it, she ended her life,” he added.

ASI Vipan Kumar said on the statement of the deceased’s father, a case had been registered against the accused. — TNS
