Bathinda, November 18

A youth was shot dead by his relative over a land dispute at Ablu village in the district. It is learnt that five bullets were fired at the deceased.

The Nehiawala police have registered a case against the accused.

As per information, Chann Singh and Gurdev Kaur of Ablu village didn't have son. They have only four daughters. One of them is married at Bhalaiana and the other three at Buttar Bkhua village. The elderly couple adopted Kuldeep Singh, son of their elder daughter. Gurdev Kaur got registered her 8-acre land on Kuldeep's name and he also took 28-acre land of his father Chann Singh on lease.

The other three sons-in-law of the elderly couple were irked over this and were keeping a grudge. As they were hoping that their in-laws didn't have a biological son, the land will be equally divided among all daughters. They were outraged after the entire land was given to Kuldeep Singh.

Kuldeep's uncle (mausa) Lakhvir Singh was demanding his share in the land. Lakhvir today came to the village and demand land, but when the elderly couple refused, he took out his pistol and open fire at Kuldeep, leaving him dead on the spot.
