Amarinder tells officials to look into matter

Jalandhar, December 13

City industrialists today met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and apprised him of their long-pending demands and issues.

Rakesh Behl, an industrialist, said they raised issues of VAT refunds, GST refunds and other problems.

Behl said after listening to their issues, the Chief Minister immediately called the departments concerned and instructed officials to look into the matter.

“It was a fruitful meeting,” he said.

Behl said the MLA (Jalandhar West) had arranged their meeting.

The Federation of Jalandhar Industrial and Traders’ Association had recently given a one-month ultimatum to the state government, saying that in this period if the government won’t pay attention towards the dying industry, they (traders and manufacturers) would start a protest against the government.

President of the association Gursharan Singh had said in a clear-cut message, he had told PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar, who was in the city on Monday, that if their issues would not be addressed, they would show the results in the next elections.

“Asi pichli sarkar vi badalti si, hun je kuch nai kitta, te tuhanu vi badal ditta jayega (We changed the previous government, if our problems remain the same, then we vote you out of power too),” Gursharan had said.

In a conversation with Jakhar, members of the association told him that none of the MLAs listen to them. “Asi dasde a ehna nu apne dukh, eh kehnde ne koi gal nahi royi challo (Whenever we try to tell the MLAs our problems, they do not pay heed and don’t even care),” they said.

The president had then said it was not for the first time that the traders and manufacturers were raising these issues, but who cares,”he asked.
