Karnal, November 19

Congress state president Kumari Selja today said the ruling BJP-JJP alliance government would not last long. “The BJP failed to get the majority in the Assembly election and formed government with the help of the JJP. Not only we, but the people of the state are saying that the government would not last long,” said Selja on the sideline of the programme at Jat Dharamshala to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

She took out a dig on the hike of house rent allowance (HRA) for ministers from Rs50,000 to Rs80,000 and said the state was facing economic crisis and the government was busy raising ministers’ house rent.

“Farmers’ crops were not procured and they were stopped from entering the grain markets, but instead of taking remedial steps for the farmers and other sections of the society along with bringing out the state from the economic emergency, the government has doubled the HRA,” she maintained.

She said people were not happy with the government. All the sections of the society be it labourer, farmers, industrialist, or trader were worried about their future.

She exhorted the party workers to take the policies of the party to the people. Selja maintained that they would hold a state level rally on November 25 in Rewari on the various issues including economic crisis in the state and farmers’ plight. On being asked about the raids by the Home Minister Anil Vij in the police station, she said it was only a publicity stunt. Meanwhile, speakers highlighted the contributions of Indira Gandhi.
