Blind murder case solved, two arrested

With the arrest of two persons, the Amritsar rural police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a blind murder case in which a youth Parminder Singh was found killed in Chhajalwindi village here three days ago.

Those arrested were identified as Amritpal Singh and Harnek Singh. They were produced in a court, which sent them to police remand for further interrogation. The police have also recovered the weapon used in the crime.

According to police, Amritpal Singh was engaged to a girl in Timmowal village over a year ago and Parminder had a friendship with her. Amritpal had objected to their relationship and asked Parminder to stay away from her. However, he allegedly did not mend his ways.

Amritpal told the police that three days ago he along with his accomplices had gone to talk with him in this regard. However, Parminder entered into heated verbal dual and during this Amritpal hit him with sharp weapons and slated his throat killed him on the spot.

Parminder Singh, alias Raju, used to run a taxi and had gone to Jabbowal village to drop passengers. Narinder Singh, father of the deceased, stated to the police that on Friday at around 7pm when they called and asked him to come back soon, he told that he was sitting with his friends. He said when he did not return till 8.30, they started looking for him. He said they found his car in the village ground. His body was lying in a pool of blood near his taxi. Parminder’s wallet and a mobile phone were in his pocket.
