Bouncer shot dead in Sector 38(W)

Bike-borne assailants speed away after attacking victim

Chandigarh, March 16

A bouncer was reportedly shot dead by motorcycle-borne miscreants at Sector 38 (West) here on Monday night. The victim has been identified as Surjit Singh, who worked as a bouncer at nightclubs in Chandigarh. He also ran a security agency and provided bouncers to various clubs and celebrities during their visit to the city.

Surjit, a resident of Nayagaon, was returning from Mohali in his car when the miscreants fired at him and escaped from the spot.

Sources said seven bullets were fired, of which three hit the bouncer. The sources added that the bullets hit the victim in the chest and near the neck.

The police were informed about the incident, following which cops rushed to the spot. and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Surjit was left seriously injured and rushed at the PGI, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The police said they were yet to establish as to how many bullets were fired.

Cops were investigating at the spot till the filing of the report.

The police said the incident was fallout of some old rivalry.

The incidents of attack on bouncers and their involvement in various crimes are not new to the city. In 2017, a former bouncer, Amit Sharma, alias Meet, was gunned down in broad daylight near Shiv temple in Saketri, Panchkula. Amit used to run a security agency.
