Mohali, March 26

The Mohali administration had made arrangements for all those stuck in the city due to the curfew, but after a few hours, the decision was revoked due to some reasons.

The administration had earlier announced that 13 buses will depart from the PUDA Bhawan, Phase 8, at 4 am tomorrow to all districts of Punjab. According to the sources, the list of all such students under 25 years of age was also prepared by the Mohali SDM.

Sukhwinder Kumar, RTA (Regional Transport Authority), Secretary, confirmed in the evening that the arrangement of buses was done but the plan had been cancelled.

Several students are stuck in their PGs and flats due to the curfew. Students said their parents were worried and no special pass had been given to them. Many had also written letters to the Mohali SDM for seeking permission for the same.

However, a three girls from Rajpura (Patiala) and Fatehgarh Sahib, who were stuck in the city, returned to their houses today.

Two of the six girls who were also stuck returned to their homes today.

A student, Shehnaaz, a resident of Malerkotla, said: “I have been stuck here for several days now. I also have some health issues. I don’t know how to get out of the city and my parents are worried. The news of cancellation of buses was saddening as I had already packed my clothes for leaving.”
