State Bank of India launched its second edition of annual flagship programme ‘SBI Green Marathon’ on February 10 to promote sustainability. Sanjay Baniwal, DGP, Chandigarh, and Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh, CGM, Chandigarh Circle, SBI, flagged off the event that witnessed over 3000 enthusiastic runners in Chandigarh. Air Officer commanding, Air Force Station, Chandigarh, Air Commodore S Srinivasan, Ms Nilambari Jagdale, SSP, Chandigarh, were also present.

Employees from Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh recently attended a special basic life support and first-aid training session organised by an NGO ‘Avoid Accident’. It was conducted by a team of Fortis Hospital, Mohali. Dr Arun Kumar, senior consultant – critical care and an ACLS-certified instructor conducted the session.

SBI organises first Haryana inter-school quiz contest

State Bank of India recently conducted the first edition of SBI Haryana Inter-school Quiz at Kurukshetra. 103 teams from 80 schools from Kurukshetra, Karnal and Ambala districts comprising 309 students participated in the event. The quiz was hosted by famous quiz master Gautam Bose from Grey Cells. It was inaugurated by NIT Kurukshetra Director Dr Satish Kumar along with chief general manager of SBI, Chandigarh Circle, Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh. Students of Army Public School, Ambala Cantt, won the competition. 

Cancer survivors celebrate World Cancer Day at Fortis

Saarthak, a cancer support group at Fortis, organised a colourful session to commemorate World Cancer Day at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, on February 9. Cancer survivors had a memorable day. In a fun-filled and colourful session, friends and families of over 50 cancer survivors came under one roof to celebrate and raise awareness about the disease. The event was an attempt to reach out to everyone suffering from cancer so that ‘no one should face cancer alone.’

Haryana ACS launches National De-worming Day

Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary - Health, launched National De-worming Day at Girls Senior School at Sector 15, Panchkula, on February 9. Ms Amneet P Kumar, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Haryana, Directors, Programme Officers and officials from the Education Department were present during the function. The programme is implemented with the support of Department of Education and Department of Women and Child Development where all schools and anganwadi workers in Haryana will administer Albendazole tablets to children and adolescents aged 1-19 years.

Naandi Foundation organises job fair, 105 students selected

The Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11, Chandigarh, Rajiv Gandhi International Institute, Chandigarh, and  Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, recently organised a job fair in collaboration with Naandi Foundation, which has a tie-up with more than 20 companies for placement of students.  Naandi Foundations selected 105 students and handed over appointment letters to the successful job aspirants. 

‘Prashashti Patra’ for Alchemist Hospital

Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya has awarded 'Prashashti Patra' to Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, for its unconditional support to the ‘Motorbike Ambulance’ project,  which was launched by the Haryana Government under Arrogyam programme in hilly areas of the state, including Morni.

MP Anurag Thakur opens Cremica Food Park at Una

Himachal MP Anurag Thakur inaugurated Rs 100-crore Cremica Food Park at Una on February 10 in the presence of Union Minister of Food Processing Industry Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The park is spread over 55 acres and is the country's largest fruit processing line having capacity of 1.5 lakh tonnes of fruits and vegetables per annum. Badal said the mega food park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs 250 crore in 25-30 food processing units and generate a turnover of about Rs 450-500 crore annually.
