GST collections increase 10% to Rs 1.75L cr in August

The growth in the country’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in August this year registered a growth of 10 per cent.
According to data, the gross GST collections in August was nearly Rs 1.75 lakh crore as against Rs 1.59 lakh crore in the same month last year. However, the collections have slowed down marginally as compared to July this year when it posted a growth of 10.3 per cent and the mop-up was Rs 1.82 lakh crore.
GST refunds during August stood at Rs 24,460 crore. After adjusting refunds, the net GST collections rose 6.5 per cent to Rs 1.50 lakh crore as compared with Rs 1.41 lakh crore a year ago. In August, domestic revenue grew 9.2 per cent to about Rs 1.25 lakh crore. Gross GST revenues from import of goods were up 12.1 per cent to Rs 49,976 crore.
