Modi lays stone of Kiru Hydroelectric Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project being implemented by Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between NHPC, JKSPDC Ltd ( a J&K Govt undertaking) and PTC Ltd., at Vijaypur on February 3. J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh were among those present on the occasion.

NFL profit soars to Rs 344  cr in nine months of FY19

Driven by operational efficiency and strong growth in its non-urea fertilisers business, NFL has posted a 49% rise in profit during nine months ending December 2018. The profit jumped to Rs 344 crore as compared to Rs 231 crore during the same period previous year. During April-December 2018, NFL's total income was Rs 9,203 crore, an increase of 34% as against Rs 6,891 crore in the year-ago period.

Madhya Pradesh-based Jiwaji University and  AIMIL Pharmaceutical firm of Delhi have inked a pact to develop new ayurveda drugs using nanotechnology. The MoU was signed between Dr Sangeeta Shukla,    Vice-Chancellor of Jiwaji University and Sanchit Sharma, executive director of AIMIL Pharma.

Cath laboratory at Ambala hospital completes one year

The cath lab established at the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment has completed one year. During anniversary celebrations, Dr Prathap Kumar, MD and chief interventional cardiologist,  Meditrina Hospital, Kerala. Cardiac centres were started on PPP mode for the first time in the country along with Kerala-based Meditrina Hospital in Ambala Cantonment, Panchkula, Faridabad, Gurugram and Agroha during December 2017 and May 2018.

OnePlus is best-selling premium smartphone

OnePlus has emerged as the best-selling premium smartphone brand in 2018, according to Counterpoint Market Monitor Service. According to the report, the company has also captured 36% of the premium smartphone market retaining its No. 1 position for the third quarter in a row. In the same quarter, Apple and Samsung's market share in the premium smartphone segment in India stood at 30% and 26%, respectively. OnePlus 6 was the highest-selling model in the premium segment in 2018 followed by OnePlus 6T.

Seminar on ‘compensation to victims’ organised

A seminar on 'compensation to victims' was recently conducted at the Department of Law in Punjabi University, Patiala. Ashish Bansal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Patiala, was the key speaker. Dr Gurpreet Kaur Pannu, Head of Department of Law, shared important information on compensation for victims. The CJM discussed the procedure of filing a case by the state on behalf of the victim. He mainly discussed Section 357 of CRPC and the methods vide which compensation can be claimed by rape and acid attack victims.

Realme unveils two new smartphones

Realme has announced the launch of Realme C1 (2019). The smartphone will be available with 2GB RAM+32GB ROM and 3GB RAM+32GB ROM variants, priced at Rs 7,499 and Rs 8,499, respectively. Both the variants will be available on Flipkart from February 5.

Sonalika Tractors records highest-ever growth

Sonalika International Tractors has recorded its highest growth of 130% in exports with sales of 1,694 tractors in January'19 as compared to 735 tractors in the same period last year. Overall, the company has registered robust growth of 11% with 7,494 tractors (domestic and exports) in Janurary'19. "The company has recorded overall growth of 20% with sales of 95,001 tractors on cumulative basis (Apri'18-Jan'19) as compared to 79,209 tractors in the same period last year," said Raman Mittal, executive director, Sonalika Group.
