Sitharaman consults states on Budget

New Delhi, January 18

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held pre-budget consultations with Finance Ministers of States and UTs on Monday through video conferencing.

Sitharaman highlighted the importance of this meeting as a sign of co-operative federalism and indicated this showed the Union Government was strongly supportive of their fight against the pandemic, stated an official release.

Most participants thanked the Union Finance Minister for financially supporting their states during the worst months of the pandemic by enhancing borrowing limits and providing back to back loans to states. The participants also gave numerous suggestions to the Union Finance Minister for inclusion in the Budget Speech, stated the release.
