Israel Tourism organises roadshow in Chandigarh

Israel Ministry of Tourism recently organised a road show in Chandigarh to showcase Israel as an exciting travel destination. The team interacted with over 100 key travel and tour operators in the city. The number of tourists visiting Israel has jumped from 39,529 in 2015 to 48,800 in the first nine months of 2018. This year the number of Indian tourists has grown by around 22%, said Hassan Madah, Director, Israel Ministry of Tourism - India & Philippines. 

NHPC employees take pledge to eradicate corruption

NHPC Ltd administered vigilance pledge during “Vigilance awareness week” which was observed from October 29 to November 3 at its regional office in Chandigarh. All staff members took the pledge to eradicate corruption and build a new India.

Mobile application with unique features launched

A unique mobile application — KNIGHTS SOTA — was launched in Chandigarh recently. Originally planned for bank cash vans, it is now available for everyone. It will help users in case of an emergency, by sending exact location to the control room of the company, which will further tie up with the local police and ensure immediate action.

A Guinness World Record for largest 'bhangra' performance was created at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, on the occasion of Punjab Day when 4,411 LPU students from Indian and abroad performed continuously on seven steps of bhangra, attired in traditional Punjabi dresses. 

VIT invites applications for B.Tech courses

BSNL (Punjab) bags first prize in energy conservation

Punjab Minister of Power & New Renewable Energy Gurpreet Kangar presented the first prize to BSNL, Punjab, for excellence in energy conservation at a function held recently. On behalf of BSNL, JC Menaria, Chief General Manager, Punjab Circle, AK Shukla, Chief Engineer (Electrical),  and Sunil Kumar, General Manager, Jalandhar, received the prize of Rs 50,000, a trophy and an appreciation letter from PEDA. 

NFL profit jumps 24% to Rs 178 crore in H1 of FY19

National Fertilizers Ltd (NFL) has recorded a profit of Rs 178 crore in the first half (H1) of the current fiscal (2018-19), Rs 35 crore higher than the previous year. Total income from operations also showed a significant increase of 35% at Rs 5,405 crore. The company produced 18.83 lakh MT of urea during this period with a capacity utilisation of 117%. 

HDFC Bank opens branch at Chandigarh University, Mohali

Lt Gen Surinder Singh opens new premises of SBI

Midea Group of China to invest Rs 1,350 crore in Maharashtra

Midea Group of China will invest Rs 1,350 crore over five years in a Technology Park at Supa Parner in Maharashtra. The foundation stone was laid by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently in the presence of Midea Group founder Xiangjian He and Chairman Paul Fang. The park will be set up at MIDC Industrial Park II, near Pune.
