The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced the establishment of five new centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR), including one in Andhra Pradesh, further expanding India’s footprint in the global network shaping the governance of emerging technologies.
With this addition, India will host three such centres, the other two being located in Mumbai and Telangana. The newly announced centres will also be set up in France, the UK and the UAE.
Launched by the WEF in 2017, the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network serves as a platform for collaboration between governments, industry and experts, aimed at ensuring that emerging technologies deliver broad societal benefits while mitigating associated risks.
The Andhra Pradesh centre, to be established in partnership with the state government, will be known as the Centre for Energy and Cyber Resilience.
