‘Goat milk can’t cure dengue’

PATIALA:With an upsurge in dengue cases in the state, the demand for goat milk and papaya leaves has gone up.

With an upsurge in dengue cases in the state, the demand for goat milk and papaya leaves has gone up.  Available for a price between Rs 100 and Rs 500 per litre, here residents are making a beeline for people selling goat milk. 

District Epidemiologist Dr Gurmeet said, “There is no specific medicine for dengue. Symptomatic treatment is all that it takes to cure it. No study has proved the efficacy of goat milk. Not every patient needs hospitalisation and if a patient can eat properly and the platelet count is 80,000-100,000, he or she can recover at home.” 

498 cases in dist so far 

Based on the ELISA test figures, dengue cases across Punjab has crossed 1,200 while Patiala alone has witnessed 498 cases so far.
