Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu launched a three-day Sub-national Immunisation Day (SNID) drive by administering polio drops to children in Balongi village today.
Sidhu said “Nearly 10 lakh children between the age group of 0-5 years will be administered drops across the state. As many as 8,000 teams have been pressed into the service.”
“Our teams will reach every household during the drive. Besides, 800 supervisors will carry out sudden checks to monitor the progress of immunisation programme,” said Sidhu.
He appealed parents to get their kids vaccinated even if the child is born a few hours ago or is suffering from cough, cold, fever and diarrhoea.
Dr Avneet Kaur, Director Health and Family Welfare, Dr GB Singh, State Immunisation Officer, and Dr Manjit Singh, Mohali Civil Surgeon, were also present.
