12 booked for assault, robbery

PATIALA:At least 12 persons, including six unidentified, have been booked for attacking a city resident and robbing him of cash and a gold chain.

At least 12 persons, including six unidentified, have been booked for attacking a city resident and robbing him of cash and a gold chain.

Six of the suspects have been identified as Praveen, Rahul, Ritik, Kala, Samit and Babloo of Dheeru Ki Majri in the city.

In a complaint to the police, Sarabjeet Singh of New Officer Colony stated that on November 7, he was selling clothes at a spot near the Division No. 2 police station, when the suspects attacked him. He said they beat him up and robbed him of Rs 27,000 in cash and a gold chain. He said the accused also threatened him with a sharp-edged weapon.

A case has been registered against under Sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 148 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Indian Penal Code.
