Chandigarh, June 24

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided not to accept physical applications for the services available online from July 1.

The CHB has fully launched 13 services related to properties — eight commercial and five residential — online and applications for these services can only be submitted through e-services from July 1.

“Hence, physical applications for these services will not be accepted from July 1,” said Yashpal Garg, Chief Executive Officer, CHB.

However, to facilitate applicants who do not have requisite facilities like computer, scanner and internet connectivity or those having any other issue in submission of online applications, the CHB has set up a well-equipped help desk at the reception of the board premises. An applicant can visit the help desk with requisite documents and officials will assist in submission of application through e-services. After online submission of the application, the applicant needs to take a printout, sign it and submit it, along with enclosures, within seven working days at the reception of the CHB.

The applicant may avoid coming to the CHB office for submission of the printout of the online application and make a request on the Help Line number 7657977813 for collection of the documents from his/her residence in the city. The signed printout, along with enclosures, will be collected by the CHB free of cost.

“There is no need for submission of original documents of the property and self-attested photocopies will suffice,” Garg said. In case of transfer on the basis of will (registered/un-registered), a notarised copy of the will may be submitted. In case the original documents are required for the purpose of verification, the CHB will call the applicant to bring the documents, which will be returned immediately after the verification.

The CHB would not retain the original documents of the property, he said, adding that in exceptional cases, where there is a need to retain the original documents of the property, a written receipt indicating the detail of each original document and the reason for retaining it will be issued. The receipt had to be produced by the applicant at the time of the return of the original documents.

The status of all pending applications received through e-services would be reviewed every Monday, the CEO said. “The online process will reduce the processing time and we will be able to provide the service much earlier than the time prescribed in the Citizen Charter/Right to Service Act,” he said.
