Two migrant labourers from Barauli village died here at the Civil Hospital, here, reportedly due to excessive consumption of cannabis and liquor here on Friday.
Deceased Bagirath Paswan (35) and Uskeen Paswan (30), who hailed from Bihar but were currently putting up at Barauli village in Dera Bassi, were brought to the Civil Hospital by their family members after they were found unconscious. However, they died while undergoing treatment.
Jai Lal Paswan, Bagirath’s brother, told the police that Bagirath and Uskeen returned from work at 7 pm on Thursday and had their dinner. Later, the duo consumed cannabis and country-made liquor, and went to sleep. Around 2 am on Friday, Bagirath started feeling uneasiness and went outside to attend the nature’s call.
Jai Lal further said Bagirath again complained of uneasiness around 4 am and fell unconscious. Uskeen too was found lying unconscious in his room, his family members said.
Jai Lal then brought the matter to the knowledge of their landlord, who immediately rushed them to the Civil Hospital, where they died while undergoing treatment.
The Investigating Officer said the duo seemed to have died of excessive consumption of cannabis and liquor. He ruled out any foul play. — OC
