23-year-old Mohali resident arrested with 15 gm heroin

The police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly smuggling heroin.

The accused, identified as Neeraj, son of Chandrapal, and a resident of Punjab Colony, Dafarpur, Mohali, was apprehended near the crematorium in Sector-28 based on a tip-off.

Acting on the secret information, a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anil Kumar conducted a raid at the location.

The police team then intercepted the accused and, during the search, recovered 14.9 gm of heroin and Rs 2,400 in cash.

A case, meanwhile, has been registered against the accused under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Chandimandir police station.

The arrested accused was later produced before the court and has been remanded to one-day police custody for further questioning and investigation in connection with the case.
