Mohali, October 22

The police seized 26 passports, a stamp and documents from an immigration company, Falcon International Education Immigration, in Phase-3B2 on Thursday night. Its owner, identified as Sarbjit Singh, has absconded.

A police team, led by DSP (City-1) Gursher Singh Sandhu, carried out a surprise check at the firm today but the owner was missing. “Twentysix passports and other documents have been seized from the office. The police are investigating whether the owner had the licence to run the immigration company.”

A case has been registered against the suspect under Sections 420 and 473 and the Immigration Act at the Mataur police station.

Sources said several immigration companies in the city were under the scanner and surprise checks would continue in the coming days.
