4 men nabbed for cloning ATM cards

Four members of an interstate gang have been arrested for alleged ATM skimming, cloning cards and withdrawing money from the account of gullible people. 

The accused have been identified as Ajit Singh, Rahul, Ravi and Amit, all residents of Delhi. The police have recovered six cloned cards and an ATM swipe machine from their possession.

The cops said the gang was active in periphery of Chandigarh. After receiving repeated complaints, especially from Dera Bassi, a special team was constituted to investigate the matter. The accused were arrested following a tip-off near Barwala road said sources.

The police said the gang used to target those people who did not know how to use ATM card or on the pretext of helping elderly people to withdraw money. 

The accused used to take victims’ ATM card and clone it with the help of an ATM skimmer. They would then take a password from the victim and withdraw the money from another ATM booth with a cloned card.
