Chandigarh, July 12
After four years, the CBI court has resumed hearing in the alleged bribery case related to some construction work of Panjab University.
The CBI had booked Satish Kumar Padam, Executive Engineer, and co-accused Nand Lal Kaushal, Sub-Divisional Officer, in 2010 after they allegedly demanded a bribe from contractor Pradeep for releasing some payment. The CBI had caught the accused with the bribe amount of Rs 35,000.
Charges were framed and the prosecution evidence was recorded.
Meanwhile, Padam filed an application for permission to lead additional evidence. But, the trial court vide order dated July 7, 2018, dismissed the application. He challenged the order before the High Court. The High Court dismissed the application and directed the trial court to conclude the trial within 30 days from today.
The court today adjourned the case for July 13.
