45 cases of liquor seized

The police have seized 45 boxes of illegal liquor being taken from Chandigarh to Punjab.

According to information, Sub-Inspector Kulwant Singh of Majat police post had set up a naka near Majat village on Monday night. Driver of a car bearing registration number HR 26X-8835 and coming from Landran left the car and ran away after seeing the cops.

During inspection 20 boxes of liquor were recovered from the car. A case has been registered against an unidentified person under the Excise Act.

In the second incident, the police received a tip-off that a car has rammed in a pole on Cholta road. Druing checking of the vehicle, 25 boxes of illegal liquor were recovered. Kharar sadar SHO Inderjit Singh Boparai said a case under the Excise Act has been registered. — OC
