A 50-bed critical care centre will be set up in Rupnagar at a cost of Rs 16.92 crore.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said there would be no need to refer patients to other hospitals in case of road accidents or epidemic after the establishment of the unit.

He said besides existing dialysis machines, four new machines would be installed at the Civil Hospital and the staff would be increased to provide the facility in two shifts. He further said the hospital in Morinda was also being upgraded.

To beautify the city, a walking track will be made from the Sutlej Headworks to the old bus stand and the Sadabarat Nature Trail Park will also be renovated. Along with this, boating will soon begin in Sutlej.
