547 valiant cadets pass out as constables from ITBP centre

CHANDIGARH: As many as 547 recruits were inducted as constables in the general duty cadre of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) at a passing out parade held at the Basic Training Center in Bhanu near here on Tuesday.

Chandigarh, July 17

As many as 547 recruits were inducted as constables in the general duty cadre of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) at a passing out parade held at the Basic Training Center in Bhanu near here on Tuesday.

The recruits had undergone 44 weeks of rigorous training that included drill, weapon handling, obstacles, mountaineering and rock climbing, internal security aspects, border management, unarmed combat and Chinese language.

The highest number of recruits, 255, was from Uttrakhand, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 138 recruits and West Bengal with 56. They belonged to the 451-455 batches that had an initial strength of 556.

Director General, ITBP, RK Pachnanda, reviewed the parade and gave away prizes for outstanding achievements during the training period. Addressing the newly- inducted constables, he urged them to devote themselves to the service of the nation and accept all professional challenges with dedication.

Lalit Singh Bhandri received the award for being the best in physical training, Surendra Singh for best in drill, Niranjan Singh Bohra for best in weapons. Similarly, Arpan Singh won the award for the best in shooting and Jenish V for best sportsman, while Rahul Bisht was adjudged as the overall best trainee.

Rajesh Kumar Deputy Inspector General, BTC, gave an overview of the training curriculum and associated activities at the center. A large number of serving and retired officers as well as families of the recruits were present on the occasion.
