54th Swachh Rose Festival concludes with prize distribution ceremony

Chief Secretary congratulated the Municipal Corporation for successfully implementing the 'zero waste' concept

The much-celebrated ‘Zero Budget, Zero Waste’ 54th Swachh Rose Festival concluded today with a prize distribution ceremony at the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, marking the successful culmination of three days of floral splendor, cultural vibrancy and sustainable celebration.

Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, graced the concluding ceremony as the chief guest. Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included City Mayor Saurabh Joshi, Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Local Government, Chandigarh Administration; Pardeep Kumar, Special Commissioner, MC Chandigarh; senior officers of Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation, and councillors of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary lauded the participation of citizens, stating that the success of the festival stands testimony to the enthusiastic involvement and support of the people of Chandigarh. He appreciated the dedicated efforts of the officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh for conceptualising and executing the festival in an exemplary manner.

He highlighted that the festival was organised without spending a single penny from the Corporation’s own budget, transforming it into a unique revenue-generating model. He emphasized that such innovative and sustainable initiatives reflect administrative efficiency and responsible governance.

The Chief Secretary congratulated the Municipal Corporation for successfully implementing the ‘zero waste’ concept during the festival and promoting Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, reinforcing Chandigarh’s commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability and responsible event management.

City Mayor Saurabh Joshi expressed pride in the Corporation’s efforts to provide a vibrant platform for local budding artists, performers and creative talents to showcase their skills and excel in their respective fields.

The Mayor further announced that similar festivals and community-centric events will be organised throughout the year across different parts of the city to ensure inclusive participation and equal opportunities for citizens from all sectors. He stated that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh remains dedicated to transforming Chandigarh into a model city not only in cleanliness and infrastructure, but also in cultural dynamism and civic participation.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of prizes to winners of various competitions, including floral displays, cultural performances and other engaging activities organised during the festival.
