Ambala, July 21

The Ambala police have booked six persons for allegedly gang-raping a 29-year-old woman from Chandigarh.

In her complaint to the Ambala SP, the woman alleged that she was returning to Chandigarh after appearing for an exam in Kurukshetra University, when she was sexually assaulted by six men near Ambala City.

She alleged that on June 29, she took a lift in a car near Ambala Cantonment in which she was offered a soft drink laced with intoxicants. She consumed the drink after which she lost consciousness. The woman further alleged that the suspects then stopped the car near a resort on the national highway. Meanwhile, another car also stopped there and then she was sexually assaulted.

A case has been registered at the Ambala City women police station. Sources said the claims of the woman were being verified.

SHO Sunita said, “A case has been registered on the complaint of the woman and the matter is being investigated. The facts are being verified.” — TNS
