A 60-year-old person, who retired from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was found murdered in the kitchen of his house at Shivalik Vihar-2 at Nayagaon late last night.
The victim, identified as Raj Kumar, was stabbed repeatedly in his stomach and neck. The victim’s throat was also found slit. Several household items were found scattered on the floor, which indicated that the crime could be the handiwork of some robbers, but the police said nothing was found missing from the spot. The police suspect some acquaintance could be involved in the crime.
According to the police, the victim was alone in the house at the time of the incident. His son Inderjit was away for his duty at IT Park in Chandigarh. The matter came to light when Inderjit returned home last night. According to Inderjit, the main entrance door of the house was found open. On Inderjit’s complaint, the police have registered a case of murder.
