The Municipal Corporation today confiscated 840 kg of banned plastic carry bags from an establishment at the Industrial Area, Phase 2, and issued a challan to the supplier.

A team of sanitary inspectors conducted a raid at the unit from where prohibited plastic carry bags were supplied. The banned material was seized on the spot.

MC Commissioner Amit Kumar warned that habitual violators would face stringent legal action, including the lodging of FIRs, in addition to penalties and seizures, to ensure strict compliance with the plastic ban. He said the MC seized 2,225 kg of banned plastic items during the last year.
