A welcome step, say traders as Chandigarh eases Covid curbs

Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, president, Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, welcomed the decision of the UT Administration for allowing shops to open from 10 am to 7 pm and hoped that UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore would accept their request for opening shops till 8 pm soon. He urged the Administrator to waive off electricity and water bills and property tax for shopkeepers up to March 31, 2022, as had been done by the Gujarat Government.

The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal has welcomed the increase in shopping hours and timings of restaurants. Charanjiv Singh, president of the mandal, said though they had demanded restoration of regular shopping hours for all shops, the increase of one hour up to 7 pm was a step in the right direction.
