City AAP president Vijaypal Singh said the MC negligence and ill-preparedness were laid bare as commuters had a tough time due to uprooted trees blocking and broken branches hindering traffic movement even as residents faced long power outages.

The heavy storm accompanied by rain on Friday morning exposed the complete failure of the MC, he said. An uprooted tree fell on a car at the Sector 18 light point. Several vehicles were damaged and roads remained blocked. At the GMCH-32, a false ceiling collapsed. He said even last year, thousands of vehicles were submerged due to waterlogging, which was result of negligence of MC officials concerned.
