Chandigarh Sector 26 shootout: Creta used in crime recovered, had fake number plate of Ludhiana man’s Chevrolet Spark car
Accusations of loyalty shifts fuel Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, shooting
Minutes after the brazen shooting of Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, in Sector 26 in Chandigarh on Monday evening, the police said a white Hyundai Creta bearing a fake registration number sped away from the Sukhna Lake-side stretch towards Panchkula.
Investigators believe the vehicle was part of the coordinated attack and are now scanning CCTV footage along the route, including the Sector 5-Mansa Devi Road belt, to trace its movements.
Initial findings indicate that the Creta had been tailing Parry’s Kia Seltos and pulled up moments after an insider who was seated with Parry fired the first round of shots inside the car. Additional bullets were then fired from outside the vehicle before the assailants escaped in the Creta, taking a U-turn.
Police sources said the number plate affixed on the getaway vehicle did not match official records, suggesting that it was either cloned or deliberately fabricated for the hit. Multiple teams have been tasked with tracking the Creta through cameras installed near the Lake, Sector 26 market, dividing road between Chandigarh and Panchkula, and further across the state border.
Late at night, the crime took a dramatic turn when a Facebook post, allegedly uploaded from an account using the name Hari Boxer Aarzoo Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for ordering and executing Parry’s killing. The post accused Parry of switching loyalties to rival syndicates linked to Goldy Brar or Rohit Godara (earlier associates of Bishnoi Gang but now running their own extortion syndicate) and alleged that he had extorted clubs under their names. Written in provocative language, the message warned that a new phase of “gang war” had begun, naming several Bishnoi-linked operatives as participants in the retaliation.
The police, however, have not confirmed the authenticity of the social media account or the veracity of its claims, and said the post would form part of the larger investigation into the murder.
Creta car recovered
The Chandigarh Crime Branch has recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the Sector-26 Timber Market incident from an Mansa Devi Complex area in Panchkula’s Sector 5.
According to investigators, the suspects had used fake registration number of Ludhiana resident’s Chevrolet Spark car. The culprits abandoned the vehicle after carrying out the crime and fled before they could be traced. Officers also traced owner of the number plate for further investigation.
